Hopes and Promises

Dearest Luke,

I'm not sure if it's possible to write down all my hopes and promises to you but i'm going to give it a try.  If only to get some of these things that are floating around in my head down on paper before the craziness begins! 

I think that having a child is one of the most hopeful acts anyone can do.  At least in my mind.  I have so many hopes for you and your future.

  • I hope that you are born healthy and happy - I pray for this every. single. night.
  • I hope that you will be a light unto this world and that you touch the lives of those people who surround you.
  • I hope that you have intelligence and wisdom
  • I hope that you are compassionate
  • I hope that you always treat people equally and fairly - regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, abilities or anything else that makes someone different.... because at the end of the day we are all PEOPLE
  • I hope that you find something you are passionate about in life
  • I hope that you live life to its fullest and that you live your life with no regrets
  • I hope that you stand up to bullies and those who are doing wrong
  • I hope that you become a productive member of society
  • I hope that one day you love another human being (woman or man) as well as your daddy loves me - with love, respect, support and passion
  • I hope that you learn how to say you are sorry when you are wrong
  • I hope that you accept someone else's apology and don't bring up past wrongs once they are atoned for
  • I hope that you value education and learning
I also want to make some promises to you.

  • I promise that I will love you NO.MATTER.WHAT.  --- UNCONDITIONALLY simply because you are my son
  • I know that I will makes mistakes along the way so I promise that I will apologize when I have done wrong
  • I promise to teach you the value of money and how to earn things
  • I promise that I will set boundaries and tell you NO and that I do it with your best interest in mind and also because I LOVE YOU ENOUGH to say no and set boundaries
  • I promise to always respect you - even when we are not seeing eye to eye
  • I promise I will NEVER call you names
  • I promise that I will always be here for you when you need me
  • I promise that I will tell you I love you frequently and hug you frequently - even when it embarrasses you
I can't wait to see you and meet you!

Trash the Dress Photo Shoot

One of the ideas that I KNEW i wanted to try after my wedding was a "trash the dress" photo shoot.  I am a photography snob and I wanted pictures that would be beautiful and creative and unique.  As soon as I mentioned it to my photographer he was immediately on board with the idea.  I am so pleased with how they turned out.  I highly encourage any bride who wants memorable photographs to give it a try.  I didn't (and still don't) have a preconceived notion that my future daughters will want to wear my dress.  I want them to wear their own dress and create their own memories.  So I wasn't worried about "ruining" the dress.  This was also the same location that we got married at too so it was special to come back to the same place.  Getting into the water   The beautiful waterfall  I loved the black and white shots  Finally laying down in the cool waters     again i loved the bl...

yup... another rant

So in a previous blog post , I mentioned my disdain for my current professor.  It seems that my professor has yet again made me want to scream in frustration.  I have turned in 3 papers starting 5 weeks ago.  He has just NOW graded them this weekend and provided me with the following feedback.  In timeline order: Friday night first paper grade of 90 - He mentions formatting is not quite what he was looking for and tells me to look at Lieber Light Case as example.  Direct Quote " You earned a 90% on your Palladium case brief.   If you make the above changes to your next case it will improve the readability and flow of the case." (The Lieber Light case is actually different than the handout he gave us in class.  I followed the example he gave us in class and I don't recall him EVER saying to follow the Lieber Light example.  AND i can't do it on my next paper because he took 5 freaking weeks to grade it and i'd al...

Hopes and Dreams

Richie and I have been trying to get pregnant since August/September.  It's been a really frustrating process to say the least.  At first things seems to be pretty regular and I figured it was only a matter of time.  But then somewhere in February my body decided to pack up shop.  I won't go into the details but it left me despairing that my body was failing me.  Month after month I was beyond frustrated.  So much so that my Dr. finally suggested a medicine called clomid that is a low dose fertility drug that regulates your ovulation.  So i took the first dose of it in May.   Meanwhile very, very few people knew of our plans because we didn't want the pressure of people watching us and waiting for it.    Then the Sunday of mother's day I woke up after having this dream:  Richie and I were sitting on the couch in my parents house.  My whole family knew that I was pregnant already but they didn't know I had ...
